2-way PROFIBUS repeater with integrated diagnostics.
The MULTIrep X2, X5 and X7 PROFIBUS repeaters not only meet all the requirements of modern and flexible PROFIBUS cabling. Thanks to the integrated interference suppression function, they also guarantee the highest possible stability of data communication.
Thanks to the integrated diagnostics, the clearly visible status LED and the automatic interference suppression, the MULTIrep PROFIBUS repeaters enable simple and targeted troubleshooting.
The use of these repeaters allows the expansion of a PROFIBUS network up to a maximum of 126 stations as well as the extension of the cable length depending on the speed. A maximum of 32 stations (31 + repeater) are permitted per segment. The MULTIrep regenerates the voltage signal in two, five or seven directions and raises it to the PROFIBUS standard level. Physically, this results in up to seven segments that are galvanically isolated from each other.
Benefits:
Signal regeneration for trouble-free data communication
By using MULTIrep repeaters, the voltage signal required for data communication is regenerated in both line directions and raised to the normal PROFIBUS level. However, the signal content remains unchanged. This ensures smooth data communication in larger segments and/or long cable runs.
Stable star structure possible
With the PROFIBUS repeater series "MULTIrep", your network can be divided into two, five or seven galvanically isolated segments, depending on the expansion stage. This allows local, functional or technological groupings to be set up depending on the purpose. The classic linear structure is dissolved. The star-shaped arrangement of many small segments with signal refreshment brings many advantages for stable operation and troubleshooting. These are known, among others, from Ethernet-based networks.
Expert tip: We recommend using repeaters to separate visible or interference-prone participants. The galvanic isolation of the segments prevents effects on the entire PROFIBUS system.

Integrated fast diagnostics and error filtering
All repeaters of the MULTIrep series continuously monitor the PROFIBUS telegram traffic. Any logical or physical anomalies that occur are indicated by the device status LED. Error telegrams and telegram repetitions are indicated by the bus LED. The data LED usually indicates whether the slaves in the channel are communicating and whether they are configured without errors. In this way, the health status of the respective PROFIBUS segment can be continuously monitored and quickly checked.
The integrated diagnostics allows the service technician to limit the error to the segment in question. This segment can be easily identified via the status LED.
If error telegrams or signal disturbances occur in a segment with repeaters, the errors are automatically filtered out and are not forwarded to other segments. This prevents interactions outside of the relevant segment.
