PROFIBUS permanent network diagnostic and analysis tools.

To be able to guarantee continuous production, it is essential to monitor the grid on a permanent basis. In addition, the fieldbus system is prone to wear and tear caused by environmental conditions such as heat or humidity and vibration. PROFIBUS INspektor is permanently integrated into the respective network and continuously monitors the logical data traffic during operation. In this way, the system operator is informed at all times about the current state of the network and is able to take appropriate measures to avoid fieldbus failures and emergency shutdowns. The passive data logger INspektor® NT checks error telegrams, telegram repetitions, device diagnostics and equipment failures in the PROFIBUS network. In accordance with predefined trigger functions, the events are recorded in the PROFIBUS-INspektor® NT and added and stored per device. The collected network data can be displayed via the Ethernet interface on a local PC and form a basis for preventive maintenance

As soon as a threshold is exceeded, the PROFIBUS-INspektor® NT creates an alarm to warn the operator in good time to carry out targeted and planned maintenance. Warnings can be given in a number of ways. An LED on the PROFIBUS-INspektor® NT directly indicates whether errors have occurred on the network. In addition to this warning, a potential-free contact can be switched, for example to send a message directly to the control system. The third option is to send an email to inform the responsible maintenance team as soon as possible.

For the evaluation of a PROFIBUS network, knowledge of the actual wiring of the individual devices is a central prerequisite. This topology can be stored on the PROFIBUS-INspektor® NT together with all important infrastructure components, such as repeaters and measuring points, including device information, and can be retrieved as required. In addition, the current and past states of the individual nodes are displayed in color. This makes it much easier to limit existing errors to certain visible segments or nodes.
